The latest CELSI Frontiers Seminar focused on Digital Sex Work and Platform Work Regulation
Feb. 12, 2026
On Friday, February 6, 2026, researcher Alexandra Moran (Institute for Sociology, Slovak Academy of Sciences) presented her dissertation project titled "Platform Work Regulation: Digital Sex Work as a Subject of Research and Policy."
The project examines digital sex work, particularly the creation of sexually explicit content on platforms such as OnlyFans, as a form of platform work. It investigates regulatory frameworks, autonomy, working conditions, and the power dynamics between workers, platforms, the state, and management agencies.
During the seminar, Alexandra Moran highlighted the challenges digital sex workers face in terms of autonomy, precarity, and regulation, and discussed how platform practices and state policies shape their working conditions.
We thank all participants and guests for their valuable feedback, suggestions, and thoughtful discussion, which enriched the seminar and the broader debate on digital labour and platform work.
